Cruce

(2026)

The point of crossing.

Synopsis

When the occasion is appropriate, many people venture on their own to a land where many treasures await to be discovered, not necessarily for their material value but for the potential of what can be made using them. One man camps for a night at some treasure mountains, and only then does introspection about his artifact strike.

About this project

'Cruce' began as a school project back in 2023, the assignment being solely to create a music video of any kind. I was already pretty accustomed at creating these since I had been freelancing as a visual designer for the past four years up to that point doing exactly that.

The initial draft was made in only two days, but even in its unfinished state it got a positive response, which motivated to someday keep working on it. The snowball effect that followed turned this music video into something much more personal, which became much more apparent after graduating. This would have been my thesis film had I been given the option to do so in college.

In any case, this shall be the project that closes off a pretty lengthy and interesting chapter in my creative journey. This project wasn't aimed at making something technically impressive like I would've preferred if I'd made this project years earlier, but just getting a message across became the larger goal and will continue to be for my future work.

Cruce Prelude (2024)

Cruce was intended to originally only be composed of this three-parter, which amounts to about 9 minutes, but it felt like I was falling back on leaning too heavily towards abstract visuals with some ulterior meaning sprinkled on top instead of taking a more hands-on approach with how I conveyed the narrative to accompany what was being displayed on screen.

Since Cruce was initially concieved as a fourth part to this series of videos, the prelude can be watched back to back with the main short.
